LEVL Up Overview

Our team of 24 SCU students and consultant Kevin Kelly created LEVL Up -- Learning and Engaging in Virtual Learning -- to help you prepare to get the most out of the next academic year. We know that we will be learning primarily in an online format in 2020, and that on-campus, face-to-face gatherings will be more limited in size when they do occur.

What skills will you develop as you LEVL Up?

As you go through the LEVL Up environment you will level up your learning by reaching these outcomes:

Be a more mindful / intentional learner by adopting deliberate strategies to improve learning success
Be a more resilient learner by managing changes as they arise, making adjustments, and advocating for yourself
Be a more self-directed/autonomous learner by initiating learning strategies on your own
Be a more balanced/cohesive learner by setting progressive goals and engaging in related activities beyond your classes
Be a more skilled learner by using technology more for learning purposes
Be a more values-based learner by applying SCU core values to everything you do
Be a more connected learner by interacting with other SCU students as well as faculty, campus staff, and alumni who can help you reach your learning and career goals

Why should you complete some or all of this LEVL Up course?

As the world keeps changing, we all have to adapt quickly so we can keep working to reach our goals. While everyone has experience taking classes, we all face challenges:

If you are a first-time college student...
If you are in the first generation of your family to go to college...
If you are a first-time online or hybrid learner...
If you are a returning student who needs to prepare for successful online learning...
If you are a transfer student...
If you are just joining the Santa Clara University (SCU) community...
Or if you're just curious...

LEVL Up is for every Bronco, not just first-year students. Sophomores, juniors and seniors will all gain valuable knowledge and skills about learning and working online--even if they are veteran online learners. For juniors and seniors turning their attention to the workplace, employers will be looking for people who are ready to work in virtual environments. When you complete the course, you’ll earn an official certificate provided by the university--this is something you can include on your Linked In or include in your portfolio!

The LEVL UP team of students shares practical strategies, tips and tricks, and advice to be the most successful you can be!

How do you LEVL Up?

You can complete individual Levels or the whole thing! This learning experience is broken into achievable Levels that all follow the same pattern:

Check in With Yourself	Inform Yourself	Take Action	Keep Learning

First, Check in With Yourself with a self- assessment. The results will suggest growth areas to review more thoroughly. If the results suggest you have mostly strength areas, then review those areas briefly before you move onto another Level!	Next, Inform Yourself by reviewing the different resources and completing short activities related to each topic.	Last, Take Action by completing a final, recommended activity to earn a badge for completing the Level.	If you want to keep going, you can Keep Learning by checking out additional resources about each topic.

To complete each Level, you will commit to doing just one new thing to help you prepare for virtual learning.

When you complete all of the Levels, you will earn a LEVL Up certificate!
