Purpose of Assignment
Interpreting job a posting and aligning your experience/expertise with it is the first essential step toward successfully applying for positions, the critical thinking/brainstorming phase that helps produce effective resumes and cover letters. - Interpret/translate the job ad, explaining in your own words the skills and qualifications the employer is looking for. This is especially important because job ads often use buzzwords whose meaning is abstract or ambiguous: what specific abilities or experience do the qualifications requested describe? How would applicants demonstrate them?
- For your list of explained requirements, list your relevant experiences, expertise, or other qualifications. The goal here is to generate a wealth of details/background info you can include in your application documents, so you have lots of rich material to choose from when writing your resume and cover letter.
